The Italian Job

The Italian Job

The third edition of The Italian Job took place the last 9 - 11 October in the wonderful setting of the Ligurian Riviera.

Moncada was there supporting these three days and introducing Bvlgari’s new addition to its Guest Collection, the Blue Tea, a unisex fragrance that  got amazing feedback.

This year more than 100 captains and industry professionals joined Amico & Co’s, in partnership with Pesto Sea Group, for a weekend of delicious food, tournaments and beauty  treatments .

Since its launching back in 2013 the event has proved to be a great way to network in an informal way before the madness of the new season begins and a well-deserved time to relax after a demanding season.

On Friday, guests arrived at the Grand Hotel Alassio, an icon of comfort and sophistication located on the magnificent Riviera beach.

Once there, with picturesque views of the Mediterranean sea, guests were reacquainted with friends, old and new, while enjoying the welcome party and a barbecue night on the beach.

During the welcome party, Alexander Buckley-Bryce and our lovely hostess Sabrina welcomed the guests by handing Blue Tea Eau de Cologne samples to those who visited our tester corner.

The night was topped off by an evening of drinking and chatting at the Grand Hotel Alassio’s bar, where Moncada handed out samples of Blue Tea amenities.

Amico & CO’s had organized an array of activities including their celebrated Golf tournament. This year, as a new feature, the event was enriched with tennis classes and a tennis tournament.

On Saturday morning spirits were high and the sun out. The tennis players headed off to the Hanbury Tennis Club, while the golfers took off around the course at the Garlenda Golf Club. The competition was on!

Moncada provided the amenities golfers and tennis players used during the tournament: Blue Tea refreshing towels and Eau de Cologne. A delightful treat to those who were competing under the warm Italian sun.

The Golf tournament culminated that same day with the awards ceremony and an animated dinner which was held at the spectacular La Meridiana Relais & Chateaux.  First place winners, Todd Hermann (Captain of M/Y SAI RAM) and his partner Lucy Warren, with a handicap of 27, were awarded with a commemorative salver.  The runners up were Owen Jones (Captain of M/Y DIAMOND A) and his partner Melissa Twitt, with a handicap of 25

During the evening, Bvlgari’s representative Julia Bonzi and Moncada’s Director, Alexander Buckley-Bryce surprised the attendees by giving away 240 bottles of Eau Aqva Divina Femme and Aqva Amara Homme.

The addition of the Tennis tournament to the programme turned out to be a success for Moncada’s Director Alexander Buckley who, together with Barbara Ippoliti won the tournament on Sunday. The tennis semi-finalists were Peter Chisholm (Captain of M/Y MONACO WOLF) and Carla Bellieni.

For those not participating in the tournaments or those players in need of a rest, Spa and fitness activities were available all day long at the Grand Hotel di Alassio and a beauty farm was available in La Meridiana Relais.

The event came to an end with the farewell lunch at Grand Hotel Alassio on Sunday afternoon. Shortly before, Barbara Ippoliti  and Moncada’s Director, Alexander Buckley-Bryce each received their trophy amidst much rejoicing and loud applause.

Participants, sponsors and supporters alike saluted this year’s edition as a booming success and certainly a stimulating end to the 2015 Mediterranean summer season.

We are over the moon with all the positive feedback we got from the new fragrance. Not to mention for having the chance to support such an amazing event for the second time. It was great to reconnect with old friends and make new ones in an informal and friendly atmosphere.

We want to thank to all those who made the Italian Job possible. We look forward to next year when we all meet again in the Liguarian Riviera.
